Sizing + How to Measure

It's really best to have a friend, family member or, for the best results, a professional seamstress/tailor take your measurements.

Taking your own measurements will almost always result in inaccuracies.

It's best to be measured wearing the exact undergarments and shoes you'll be wearing.

Standard sizes are determined by the bust, waist, and hip measurements. Also included is a “Hollow to Hem” measurement; this is the measurement from the base of the neck (hollow of the neck) to the bottom of the hem and determines the length of the dress.

Use ONLY a standard cloth measuring tape. Do not pull the tape tightly; it should be just tight enough to stay in place. Please keep in mind that cloth measuring tapes can stretch out.

Taking the Bust Measurements

1. Stand straight with your heels together and your arms down at your side.
2. Position the measuring tape so that it covers the widest part of your back and the fullest part of your bust.

Taking the Waist Measurements

1. Standing straight, bend to your side. The bend is your natural waist.
2. Stand straight and keep your heels together.
3. Place the measuring tape around your natural waist.

Taking the Hip Measurements

1. Stand straight with your heels together and your arms down at your side.
2. Position the measuring tape around the widest part of your hips.

Once you have taken your measurements, refer to the size chart. The size chart shows the approximate measurements used to make each size. Compare your measurements to the size chart to determine the correct size or input your measurements at checkout for a custom choice.

If you cannot match your exact measurements to all three measurements indicated on the size chart we suggest ordering according to the largest measurement. Remember, garments can be taken in, but taking them out depends on the seam allowances which, in most cases, are very slim. Additionally, a custom sized gown can always be ordered and will take the same amount of time to produce.

STANDARD SIZE CHART

CUSTOM SIZED GOWNS
Custom sized gowns are always recommended for the best fit and look. To ensure custom sized gowns are made for your body shape we need additional measurements. See the size guide below for all measurements needed. The height of any shoes you plan to wear with the gown is needed so we can ensure the dress is long enough for you with your shoes on.  If your dress does not have sleeves the arm measurements are not required. If your dress is not floor length please take a "hollow to hem" measurement rather than "hollow to floor". Hollow to hem also begins at the hollow space between your collar bones and ends where you would like the edge of the skirt (hem) to be.

Please reach out via chat on the site or email (queengowns@gmail.com) if you would like any help with selecting a size or measuring.  All gowns are made to order and custom or standard sizing takes the same amount of time. For all standard size gown purchases we will reach out to make sure you feel confident in the size you chose. We will be happy to go over your measurements with you anytime!
